Should Big E defeat Roman Reigns? | Survivor Series 2021 Preview & Predictions
You might not know this, but Survivor Series is tonight. Many people may have forgotten this due to the very lacklustre build the PPV has received. The teams were announced on twitter (then WWE randomly changed some of the participants because why not?) and the other matches haven't had any real opportunity to build any sort of story, apart from Roman Reigns and Big E. Nevertheless, the card itself does still look very promising and will likely still be an enjoyable show. Let's take a look through the card and determine which brand will walk out from Survivor Series with the win this year
BIG E VS ROMAN REIGNS
This is by far the most must-see encounter on the show as the two beloved World Champions go head to head in what is bound to be an exhilarating clash. The main question heading into this match is very simple, should Big E defeat the Head of the Table?
Roman Reigns has been the most protected star in all of Wrestling for quite some time now, his title regin has surpassed 400 days and he’s rarely lost within the last year and a half. As he'd say himself, he has "smashed" every opponent in his way and doesn't seem like stopping anytime soon. But on the flip side, would Roman be able to take a loss here? Chances are it wouldn't hurt him or his character in any shape or form. If it was me doing the booking, I'd actually let Big E go over here. He's still a very new champion and is new to the main event scene and could do with that one HUGE win to solidify him as a top guy. But realistically, there's only one winner here, and it's the Tribal Chief. WWE have shown that they're doing whatever it takes to keep Roman winning, they even had a rope collapse at Extreme Rules so he could defeat the Demon Finn Bálor. To conclude, this should steal the show and I'm expecting the Universal Champion to emerge victorious at Survivor Series yet again
PREDICTION: ROMAN REIGNS
MEN'S 5 ON 5 ELIMINATION MATCH
On paper, this is certainly a very one sided match-up. RAW comes into this with a formidable lineup with former World Champions Seth Rollins, Finn Bálor, Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley, with the addition of a rising star in Austin Theory. With Smackdown, while they've got a good team, it's not as star studded as RAW's. Saying that though, RAW do have 4 heels on their team which is very strange. I sense that Drew Mcintyre will play a big role in this match as he's probably being built up to be Roman's next huge challenger in the near future. And with RAW having an overwhelming amount of heels on their side, WWE could definitely make Drew look like a mega star here and have him just plough through the team. I believe Drew and King Woods will be the final two competitors for Smackdown at the end with them last eliminating Bobby Lashley
PREDICTION: TEAM SMACKDOWN
WOMEN'S 5 ON 5 ELIMINATION MATCH
Two women immediately stand out from this match graphic. Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks. The history these two have together is well known and their chemistry is unmatched. Let's also not forget that these two were scheduled to face off at SummerSlam, until those plans got dismantled due to unforeseen circumstances. It'll also be interesting to see how Liv Morgan and Toni Storm are booked here as both have title matches coming up. I don't see either being sole survivors but they'll likely look strong nevertheless. The final two will be Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks, where the two women can put on a 5 - 8 minute clinic with Bianca eventually securing the win for RAW
PREDICTION: TEAM RAW
BECKY LYNCH VS CHARLOTTE FLAIR
This is an exciting match for all the wrong reasons. Becky and Charlotte have had their backstage drama in recent weeks which has dominated the wrestling news headlines. Some fans are speculating that the animosity has been transferred into a work in order to build hype for the match at Survivor Series. Either way, this will definitely be interesting. These two are arguably the most protected women in WWE nowadays so it could genuinely go either way. As of right now though, Big time Becks has got more momentum on her side so she's probably the more likely victor here
PREDICTION: BECKY LYNCH
DAMIAN PRIEST VS SHINSUKE NAKAMURA
Now this is a very exciting match. In terms of in ring work, this could be match of the night. This does seem very predictable though, if you look at how both reigns have been treated there's a huge difference. Priest has been very successful as champ so far, having great defences on RAW and PPV's. Meanwhile, Nakamura hasn't really had the same luck. He was stuck in a lengthy feud with Apollo, and has done nothing too notable since, which is not his fault. Him and Boogs are a fantastic duo, it just feels like the title is not taken seriously by WWE right now. With this evidence, it's safe to say that Priest will win this one
PREDICTION: DAMIAN PRIEST
RK-BRO VS THE USOS
This is surprisingly one of the most unpredictable bouts on this card. Both sets of champions have had solid reigns so far, especially RK-Bro. I get the feeling that Vince is very, for the lack of a better word, "high" on Riddle. That's the only reason I'm edging towards RK-Bro for this encounter. This should be thoroughly entertaining though if given an acceptable amount of time
PREDICTION: RK-BRO
25 MAN BATTLE ROYAL
Let's keep this short and sweet since it's by far the least important match on the card. The favourites are Omos and to an extent, Otis. I'll go for a somewhat bold pick though and go with Cesaro. He'll eliminate Omos at the end and Michael Cole can go ballistic about his strength on commentary
PREDICTION: CESARO
FINAL SCORES
RAW - 4
SMACKDOWN -3
